From Problem to Solution
The slides below come from a workshop I ran recently in the ThoughtWorks office to a group of people interested in learning more about problem/solution driven design. The purpose of the workshop was to run people through a series of quick exercises to help a small group identify a business problem and quickly come up with solutions to the business problem.
The activity was 30-minutes long and was well received. In the end people discovered interesting ways of solving perplexing problems (I think some even surprised themselves with their ideas). The slides are pretty self explanatory… I hope.
This process can be used at any point in the product lifecycle; to generate new ideas quickly or hash out solutions to existing problems. The key here is to keep things end user focused and not get too focused on the details of how to wire this up technically.
Materials needed: brains, paper, and pencils.
